Maths Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the South East
Start date: 23 September 2026
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the South East, delivering maths teaching to learners working towards their qualifications alongside their wider study programmes.
You'll plan and deliver engaging, accessible sessions to learners of mixed ability, many of whom are rebuilding their confidence with the subject. Your focus will be on closing gaps in knowledge and helping learners develop the numeracy skills they need for work, life and further study.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging maths sessions to learners of mixed abilities.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Marking learner work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Tracking learner progress and maintaining accurate records.
- Working collaboratively with the maths team and wider curriculum staff.
- Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience teaching maths within further education or secondary education
- A maths-specific qualification or strong numeracy background
- Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to varied learning needs
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd, DET or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
- Understanding of effective resit strategies
