Job Description

Maths Lecturer

Temporary | Contract

Location: the East of England

Start date: September 2026

Are you a maths specialist who enjoys helping learners build the confidence they need to succeed?

About the Role

You'll join the maths team at an education provider, delivering GCSE and Functional Skills maths to learners across a range of study programmes. Many of your students will be resitting, so you'll play a key part in helping them achieve and develop numeracy skills they can use in work, life and further study.

You'll teach groups of mixed ability and adapt your approach so that every learner can access the subject, whatever their starting point.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging maths lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
  • Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
  • Marking learners' work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
  • Tracking progress and putting support in place where gaps in knowledge appear.
  • Building learner confidence and motivation in a subject many find challenging.
  • Working with colleagues across the maths team and wider curriculum areas.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience teaching GCSE or Functional Skills maths in further education or secondary
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the GCSE specification
  • Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to varied learning needs
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable (but not essential):

  • A recognised UK teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd or Level 5 DET
  • Experience of supporting resit learners

If you're ready to help learners achieve the maths grade that opens doors for them, we'd love to hear from you.
