Lecturer in Engineering
Location: Furness
Salary: Up to £37,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Engineering to join a growing engineering curriculum team in Barrow-in-Furness.
This role would suit either an experienced Engineering Lecturer or an industry professional looking to take the next step into education. If you have a passion for developing future engineering talent and hold a minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, we would love to hear from you.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, training and assessment across a range of engineering programmes, helping learners develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required by today's engineering sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering engaging and practical lessons in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering.
- Planning and preparing learning materials, schemes of work and lesson plans.
- Assessing learner progress and providing timely feedback.
- Supporting learners to achieve their full potential.
- Maintaining accurate records in line with awarding body and organisational requirements.
- Embedding current industry practices and standards into teaching delivery.
- Supporting apprenticeship and employer engagement activities where required.
- Ensuring safe working practices within engineering workshops and learning environments.
- Contributing to quality improvement and curriculum development activities.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- A minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Relevant industry experience within an engineering environment.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A passion for sharing your knowledge and supporting learner success.
A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. Full support will be provided for industry candidates who are looking to transition into teaching and gain a recognised teaching qualification.
