Job Title: Health & Safety and First Aid Lecturer (Part-Time)
Location: HMP Coldingley
Salary: Up to £24,412 pro rata
Contract: Part-Time, Permanent (24 hours per week)
Working Pattern: Tuesday to Friday (includes an early lunchtime finish on Fridays)
The Opportunity
Are you a qualified first aid, safety, or compliance trainer looking for a flexible part-time role where your skills can genuinely transform lives? Do you want to support adult learners in custody by equipping them with essential, life-saving workplace qualifications that open doors to post-release employment?
MK College Group has an exciting part-time opportunity for an inspiring Health & Safety and First Aid Lecturer to join the prison-based Education Team at HMP Coldingley. Operating across a structured timetable from Tuesday to Friday, you will deliver vital short courses in Health & Safety, First Aid, Food Safety, and Mental Health First Aid—giving learners the practical skills and confidence needed to rebuild their futures.
What You Will Be Doing
Timetabled Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality classes across four key accredited subjects: Level 3 Mental Health First Aid, Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace, Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work, and Level 2 Food Safety.
Skill Building & Rehabilitation: Guide adult learners through formal assessments, helping them gain industry-recognised qualifications, self-confidence, and workplace-ready compliance skills for employment upon release.
Inclusive Teaching: Create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment tailored to adult learners with diverse educational backgrounds.
Collaborative Support: Partner with the broader MK College Group education team to deliver an inspiring curriculum designed to reduce reoffending.
What We Are Looking For
Subject & Training Background: Relevant qualifications or instructional experience in Health & Safety, First Aid at Work, Food Safety, or Mental Health First Aid. Missing a qualification? Upskilling support is fully provided if you hold expertise in some, but not all, of the required delivery subjects.
Teaching Experience: Experience delivering accredited training or lecturing is preferred; a recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one) is highly desirable.
Core Skills: Strong communication, classroom management, and adaptive delivery methods to keep sessions interactive and accessible.
Values-Driven: A creative, flexible, and passionate educator committed to giving learners second chances through high-impact vocational training.
What's on Offer
- Upskilling support provided for missing qualifications
- Early lunchtime finish on Fridays
- Flexible part-time working pattern
