Job Description
Exams Officer
Permanent
Salary: £32,000 - 40,000 per annum
Are you a meticulous and highly organised exams professional looking for a role where accuracy and candidate care go hand in hand?
About the Role
You'll take responsibility for the efficient, secure and compliant administration of examinations at a well-established further education provider, which runs public and trial examinations for its own students alongside a significant number of private candidates. Qualifications span a wide range of awarding bodies, including AQA, OCR, Pearson Edexcel, Eduqas, Cambridge International Education and Pearson International.
This is a role that combines rigorous administrative process with genuine candidate-facing responsibility. Many candidates travel considerable distances to sit their exams, including those with complex access arrangements, so you'll need to be as comfortable supporting individuals through a stressful process as you are managing entries, timetables and compliance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Administering the end-to-end examination process, from entries and timetabling to results and certification.
- Liaising with multiple awarding bodies to ensure accurate and timely entries and compliance with regulations.
- Managing access arrangements for candidates with additional needs or complex circumstances.
- Providing a professional, responsive and reassuring point of contact for candidates, families and private clients.
- Ensuring the secure storage, handling and distribution of examination papers and materials.
- Maintaining accurate examination records and data in line with JCQ and awarding body requirements.
- Working closely with academic and administrative colleagues to support smooth delivery of the examination centre.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience working as an Exams Officer or in a similar examinations administration role
- Sound knowledge of JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to support candidates and families with sensitivity
- Ability to work accurately under pressure, particularly during peak exam periods
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience administering access arrangements
- Experience working with private candidates
- Familiarity with multiple awarding body systems and portals
If you're ready to bring precision, professionalism and a genuinely personal touch to exams administration, we'd love to hear from you.
