Are you an English specialist who enjoys helping learners gain the qualification that opens the next door for them?

About the Role

Working with a further education provider, you'll deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English to learners studying across a range of vocational programmes, supporting them towards their target grade and the communication skills they'll need for work and further study.

You'll plan and prepare your sessions, track progress and give timely, constructive feedback, adapting your teaching to groups of mixed abilities and prior experiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering engaging and accessible English lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
• Planning and preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
• Marking learner work and tracking progress towards qualification targets.
• Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge, building confidence and motivation.
• Working collaboratively with the English team and wider curriculum colleagues.
• Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience teaching GCSE or Functional Skills English in further education or secondary education
• A strong understanding of the GCSE specification and effective resit strategies
• The ability to differentiate and adapt your teaching to varied learning needs
• Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable (but not essential):

• A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed or Level 5 DET
• A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area
