Electrical Training Officer
Location: Home-based (with regional travel across the Western region / Thames Valley)
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience)
Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week (Monday – Friday)

About the Role
A leading Ofsted 'Good' national training provider is seeking a home-based Electrical Training Officer to support and guide the next generation of electricians. This position is ideal for an experienced assessor or a qualified electrician looking to step off the tools and transition into training and mentoring. You will oversee a dedicated caseload of apprentices across the Western region and Thames Valley, managing workplace visits, practical assessments, and ongoing employer engagement to help learners successfully achieve their trade qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Support electrical apprentices through regular workplace visits, conducting progress reviews, coaching, and mentoring.
- Carry out fair, accurate assessments of learner knowledge, skills, and behaviors in compliance with awarding body and industry standards.
- Build strong working relationships with employers to ensure suitable workplace opportunities, proper engagement, and safe environments.
- Track learner progress, attendance, and milestone achievements, maintaining accurate digital records and tracking reports.
- Identify early risks of non-completion or skills gaps, establishing targeted intervention plans alongside employers.
- Complete pre-placement safety vetting for employer workplaces in line with organizational procedures.
- Embed safeguarding, Health & Safety, Prevent, and Equality & Diversity principles into all assessment and coaching interactions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Trade Background: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or recognized apprenticeship/equivalent) with verifiable industry experience as a qualified electrician.
- General Qualifications: GCSE/O-Level Maths and English (Grades A*–C / 9–4) or Level 2 functional skills equivalent.
- Desirable Credentials: Current 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations, Inspection & Testing (C&G 2391 or equivalent), and formal assessor qualifications (TAQA, A1, D32/D33, or CAVA).
- Skills: Excellent communication, coaching, and organizational skills, along with proficient IT literacy and a full driving license for regional travel.
