Electrical Technician
Temporary | Contract
Location: the West Midlands
Start date: 2 November 2026
Are you a qualified electrician looking to bring your trade into a training environment?
About the Role
A further education provider is looking for an Electrical Technician to provide technical support across its practical electrical workshops. You'll work alongside teaching staff to prepare and maintain the workshop, and support learners during practical sessions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing materials, tools, components and practical bays for sessions, demonstrations and assessments.
- Maintaining and repairing electrical tools, testing equipment and workshop machinery.
- Providing technical support to teaching staff and learners during practical workshops.
- Keeping the workshop safe, organised and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Monitoring consumables and supporting stock control and ordering.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Electrical Installation
- Industry experience as a practising electrician
- Up-to-date knowledge of electrical health and safety standards
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- BS 7671 Wiring Regulations qualification
- Inspection and testing qualification (2391 or equivalent)
- Previous experience in an education or training environment
