BSL / Sign Language Specialist
Location: East London
Contract: Temporary
Hours: 30 hours per week
Start Date: September 2026
Contract End: July 2027
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for several experienced BSL / Sign Language Specialists to join a supportive education provider in East London from September 2026.
We are looking for enthusiastic professionals who are passionate about supporting deaf and hearing-impaired learners to achieve their full potential. The successful candidates will work closely with students across a variety of curriculum areas, providing high-quality communication and learning support.
This opportunity would suit candidates from a range of backgrounds, including Further Education, schools, specialist education, residential care, supported living, or support work.
About You
We're keen to hear from candidates who have:
- BSL Level 4, 5 or 6 (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired individuals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A flexible and proactive approach to supporting learners
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
Experience in any of the following roles would be highly desirable:
- BSL Interpreter
- Communication Support Worker
- Teacher of the Deaf
- Learning Support Practitioner
- Learning Support Assistant
- Specialist Support Worker
- SEND Support Worker
- Deaf Support Worker
- Teaching Assistant (BSL)
- Education Support Worker
