Are you an experienced English or maths leader ready to take responsibility for a whole curriculum area?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider as Curriculum Manager for English and Maths, leading the delivery of English and maths provision and the team who teach it. You'll be responsible for the quality of teaching, learning and assessment across the area, and for making sure learners resitting or working towards their qualifications get the support they need to achieve.

You'll combine curriculum leadership with people management, using data to understand how learners are progressing and acting where results or attendance tell you something needs to change.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the planning and delivery of English and maths provision across a range of levels.
• Managing, supporting and developing a team of lecturers, including performance management and lesson observations.
• Monitoring retention, achievement and progression, and using data to drive improvement.
• Ensuring consistent quality of teaching, learning and assessment across the curriculum area.
• Overseeing timetabling, staffing and resources for the area.
• Contributing to wider curriculum development and quality improvement work.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience of teaching English or maths in further education
• Experience of leading, managing or coordinating a team
• A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, DET or equivalent
• A strong understanding of GCSE and Functional Skills delivery, including resit provision
• The ability to use data to improve learner outcomes
• Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience as a Curriculum Manager, Head of Department or Lead Lecturer
• Experience of quality assurance activity such as learning walks and deep dives
