Are you an experienced SEND teacher with a passion for supporting learners with the most complex needs?

We're recruiting for an exceptional Complex Needs Class Teacher to join a highly specialised education setting supporting children and young people with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

The Opportunity

As a Complex Needs Class Teacher, you'll lead a class of learners with highly individual needs, delivering engaging and structured learning experiences that promote communication, independence and personal development.

Working alongside experienced Learning Support Assistants and multidisciplinary professionals, you'll create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where every learner is supported to achieve meaningful progress.

You'll also play a key role in mentoring classroom support staff, ensuring consistent approaches to communication, behaviour support and personalised learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver highly personalised lessons for learners with SLD, PMLD and complex Autism.
• Create engaging learning experiences tailored to individual communication and sensory needs.
• Lead and support Learning Support Assistants to deliver consistent, high-quality classroom practice.
• Use a range of communication strategies including AAC, PECS, Signalong, Makaton and assistive technology.
• Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and proactive behaviour management.
• Contribute to EHCP targets, learner reviews and multidisciplinary planning.
• Build strong relationships with families and external professionals.
• Promote safeguarding, inclusion and learner wellbeing at all times.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Proven experience teaching learners with SLD, PMLD and/or complex Autism.
• Experience supporting non-verbal or pre-verbal learners.
• Knowledge of AAC, PECS, Signalong, Makaton or alternative communication systems.
• Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches.
• Strong leadership skills and experience working collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants.
• Excellent communication, resilience and a calm, patient approach.
• A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with complex needs.
