Job Description
Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the North West
Start date: 1 September 2026
Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner looking to pass on your trade skills to the next generation of tradespeople?
About the Role
You'll deliver carpentry and joinery qualifications for a further education provider, combining practical workshop instruction with classroom-based theory teaching. You'll help learners build the technical skills, industry knowledge and professional standards they need to progress into employment, an apprenticeship or further study.
This role would suit someone with a strong vocational background in carpentry and joinery who is ready to move into teaching, as well as those already lecturing. If you haven't taught before, you'll be supported with fully funded teacher training, mentoring and ongoing professional development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging practical and theory sessions in carpentry and joinery.
- Assessing learner work and providing constructive feedback to support progress.
- Monitoring learner progress and putting support in place where it is needed.
- Developing learning resources and contributing to course materials.
- Preparing learners for employment, apprenticeships and further study.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in carpentry and joinery or a related construction discipline
- Significant industry experience in carpentry and joinery
- Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and maths
- A passion for developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- An assessor qualification
- Previous experience of teaching or training in a further education setting
Shape the Next Generation of Tradespeople
If you're ready to step off the tools and share your trade with learners starting out, we'd love to hear from you.
What's on Offer
- Fully funded teacher training
- Mentoring support
- Ongoing professional development
