Caretaker
Temporary | Contract
Location: London
Start date: October 2026
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in London, helping to keep the site safe, secure and well presented for learners, staff and visitors.
You'll be a visible and practical presence across the buildings and grounds, carrying out routine maintenance, responding to day-to-day issues and making sure spaces are ready for use.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Opening, closing and securing buildings, and carrying out routine site checks.
- Completing minor repairs and general maintenance tasks around the site.
- Setting up rooms, furniture and equipment for lessons, events and meetings.
- Reporting faults, hazards and maintenance issues, and supporting contractors on site.
- Supporting health, safety and security procedures across the buildings and grounds.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Practical maintenance or caretaking experience
- A good understanding of health and safety in a busy workplace
- Reliability, and the ability to work on your own initiative
- A helpful, approachable manner with staff, learners and visitors
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience working on an education site
- A relevant health and safety or trade qualification
