Brick Tutor
Temporary
Location: Yorkshire and the Humber
Start date: 3 September 2026
Are you an experienced bricklayer looking to step off the tools and pass your skills on to the next generation of tradespeople?
About the Role
As a Brick Tutor with a further education provider, you'll deliver practical and theory-based brickwork sessions to learners working towards their qualifications. You'll bring your trade experience into the workshop, helping learners build the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to progress into employment.
You'll plan and prepare sessions, assess progress and support learners throughout their programme as part of an established team.
If you come from industry rather than teaching, that's welcome. Where relevant, the provider offers support to help you develop your teaching practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering practical and theoretical brickwork sessions to learners at a range of levels.
- Planning, preparing and delivering lessons in line with the curriculum.
- Assessing and monitoring learner progress and providing constructive feedback.
- Adapting teaching and learning materials to meet individual learner needs.
- Maintaining a safe and productive workshop environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 2 (or higher) qualification in brickwork or bricklaying
- Substantial practical experience in the trade
- The ability to motivate and support learners to achieve
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A teaching or assessing qualification
- Previous experience of teaching or mentoring in a further education or workplace setting
- Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and maths
