Are you a skilled barber looking for a role where your trade expertise genuinely changes lives?

About the Role

We are seeking an inspiring Barbering Tutor to join an education provider in the justice sector, delivering meaningful vocational learning within a prison education setting. This is a unique opportunity to support learners on their rehabilitation journey, helping them build the practical skills, confidence and qualifications needed to progress into employment and shape brighter futures.

You'll deliver engaging and inclusive barbering lessons to learners with a wide range of educational backgrounds, learning needs and abilities. Many of your learners will have had difficult experiences of education, so patience, empathy and a genuine belief in each individual's potential will matter as much as your technical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering barbering qualifications to groups of learners.
  • Conducting initial assessments and diagnostics to identify learners' starting points and needs.
  • Planning and adapting lessons to meet a diverse range of abilities and learning needs.
  • Maintaining a safe, well-organised and professional barbering environment, including tools and equipment.
  • Monitoring and recording learner progress against individual learning plans.
  • Preparing learners for formal assessment and supporting them towards qualification.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven barbering experience and strong practical skills in the trade
  • A genuine interest in supporting learner development and rehabilitation
  • Excellent communication skills and the resilience to work in a secure environment

Desirable (but not essential):

  • A teaching or assessing qualification
  • Previous experience in a prison education, further education or adult learning setting

No teaching qualification? No problem. Full support and funding will be provided to help you achieve the required teaching and assessing qualifications.

What's on Offer

  • Full support and funding for teaching qualifications
  • Training provided for assessing qualifications
