Job Description
AAT Assessor
Permanent
Location: the South West
Salary: £32,000 per annum
Are you an experienced accounting or finance professional looking to share your expertise and support the next generation of learners?
About the Role
As an AAT Assessor, you'll guide and support learners working towards their AAT qualifications, helping them develop the knowledge and practical skills they need to succeed in accountancy and finance.
You'll manage a caseload of learners, carrying out assessments, providing constructive feedback and tracking progress towards completion. Working closely with each learner, you'll ensure they stay motivated and on target throughout their programme.
You'll play a key role in maintaining high standards of delivery and assessment, working within awarding-body requirements to ensure every learner receives a fair, consistent and supportive experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing learners' work against AAT qualification standards.
- Providing timely, constructive feedback to support learner progress.
- Planning and conducting assessments in line with awarding-body requirements.
- Managing a caseload of learners and monitoring their progress towards completion.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation for each learner.
- Supporting learners to stay motivated and engaged throughout their studies.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A relevant accounting or finance qualification, such as AAT
- Occupational experience within accountancy or finance
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A commitment to supporting learners to achieve their goals
Desirable (but not essential):
- An assessor qualification (for example TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent)
- Previous experience of assessing or teaching in a further education or training setting
If you don't yet hold an assessor qualification, that needn't hold you back — the right industry experience and a passion for developing others matter most, and support is available to help you gain the qualifications you need.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has genuine occupational expertise in accountancy or finance.
- Enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others succeed.
- Is organised, reliable and able to manage a varied caseload.
- Communicates clearly and builds strong working relationships with learners.
