Job Description
Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Manchester.
This is a term-time only role, starting in September 2026.
Job Purpose
- Support young people with SEND, SEMH, and ASD to understand their options and plan their next steps.
- Provide clear careers advice around further study, university, apprenticeships, training, work, or supported adult pathways.
- Work with students, families, staff, and external providers to help each young person move into a positive destination.
Main Duties
- Provide 1:1 careers guidance tailored to each student's strengths, interests, needs, and future goals.
- Help students with CVs, applications, interviews, personal statements, UCAS, and next-step planning.
- Arrange visits, employer talks, careers events, work-related learning, and transition activities.
- Build links with employers, universities, training providers, sixth forms, and other education providers.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, transition plans, and multi-agency meetings where needed.
- Keep accurate records of guidance, destinations, progress, and outcomes for reporting and improvement.
Requirements
- Able to start in September 2026
- Qualified careers advisor, ideally Level 6 or above.
- Experience giving careers guidance to young people.
- Understanding of SEND, SEMH, ASD, and the barriers some learners face.
- Knowledge of further study, university, apprenticeships, training, and employment routes.
- Organised, supportive, and confident working with students, families, staff, and external partners.
